After being given a facelift, but at the same time retaining similar curvatures as its predecessors, the Nokia 3410 comes as the major upgrade for the 33xx-series of phones. As like many previous Nokia 3000-series phones, this model introduces several new features that will be found on future Nokia phones - with some of these including a "download" menu for customizable features, and support for Java MIDlets (applets) thanks to implementation of J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition). Although I live in the South Asia region, it was really easy to find the 3410 for use and purchase. Because the 3410 is only officially available in European and African markets. This new model comes with some big improvements. One of the biggest additions to the 3410 would be the Java support offered - allowing for third-party applications to be used on this phone. Also, accesses to WAP services have been enhanced thanks to a new 'download' menu allowing access to downloadable tones, games and images. A standard keypad is provided with the 3410 - one which is similarly used on other Nokia series phones, which rids the Navi-key interface (love it or hate it?). The resolution of the screen has also been vastly improved, supporting finer text and graphics. This is achieved through an increased number of screen pixels based on a similar screen size as the 3310/3330. The external shape of the 3410 is virtually the same as that of both the 3310 and 3330, where the differences lie in the redesigned screen and keypad area, which have both been given a softer touch in conjunction with the "Green Cloud" colored Xpress-on cover. I personally find the overall design of the 3410 quite attractive. Some may be saying, "Why does the 3410 look so much like the 3315?" Apart from the difference in the keypad area and Xpress-on cover, both phones are exactly the same - physically. Gone is the Navi-key and in comes the standard keypad interface found on other Nokia phones. I have never gotten used to just having one single button controlling a phone's features - and find it extremely irritating when I don't have a second choice on the screen. Anyway. the two soft keys provide similar menu navigation techniques as per other Nokia phones. Physically, the keypad has a softer feel than those on the 3310 and 3330. If you're afraid that a possible result is a loss in keypad tactility, then let me assure you that this is not the case. Although the keypad is not as "clicky", it definitely passes the message-typing test! Similar to the 3310/3330, the 3410 supports concatenated (long) SMS messages, SMS chat and picture messaging features. But there is one down side that is the Typing speeds for messages slow down when typing long messages. The 3410 has been given a set of answer/reject buttons and two soft keys, which also gives users greater accessibility than ever before (on 3000-series phones) to in-call features such as hold and mute. In addition, a built-in phonebook with a 200-entry capacity is provided on the 3410 - with access to it as simple as using the up/down arrow buttons (not needing to go into the menu before opening the phonebook!). With the provided lithium-ion battery, I was able to average approximately 2-3 days' standby on average usage, and around 2-3 hours' worth of talk time. All in all it is something good for the breed of serious users and has found attention in hearts and pockets of lots of people. (Happy communication folks)

I think this phone is great my mate has it. With this phone you can be on the phone and you can text some one at the same time and it is really small

Is your phone a fashion statement, a 'must be seen to have the latest gadget filled version' or simply a tool for effective communication? The 3410 does not 'fit the bill' for the first two statements but it is ideal for the last. It is easy to use, the keypad has a good 'feel' and whether texting or talking it is a very good performer. Battery life seems to be pretty good and I have found the 'self lock' facility very useful. If all you want is a solid, reliable phone with a few extra features the the 3410 is the one for you. If you want gadgets, gizmo's or miniture dimentions look elsewhere!
